MC Acquisitions (ABN 59 718 572 668) · Effective 27 June 2026 · Version 1.0
MC Acquisitions (“MC Acquisitions”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a sole trader business owned and operated by Mia Charles, providing independent property acquisition advisory and due diligence coordination services in Queensland. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information openly and transparently.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use, disclose and protect your personal information. It is designed to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), and our obligations as a reporting entity under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) (“AML/CTF Act”).
What is personal information?
“Personal information” means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether true or not and whether recorded in a material form or not. Some personal information is “sensitive information” under the Privacy Act; we only collect it where reasonably necessary and, where required, with your consent.
What we collect
Identity and contact details; identity verification (KYC) information where required under the AML/CTF Act; financial and investment information relevant to feasibility modelling; engagement and transaction records; marketing and enquiry information; and technical/website information (see Cookies).
How we collect it
Wherever practicable, directly from you. We may also collect from third parties where reasonable, including licensed professionals you have engaged, public sources, and property and planning data providers used in due diligence.
Why we collect and use it
To provide our services; prepare feasibility modelling and acquisition reports; communicate with you; verify your identity and meet AML/CTF obligations; coordinate with licensed professionals; administer our engagement; send marketing where permitted; improve our services; and comply with our legal obligations. If we cannot collect information we reasonably require, we may not be able to provide our services.
Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing
As a reporting entity under the AML/CTF Act, we must collect and verify identity information, keep records, and in some cases report to AUSTRAC. We may not be able to provide services if you do not provide required identity information.
Direct marketing and the Spam Act
We may send marketing and educational communications where you have consented or it is otherwise permitted. Every message identifies us, includes our contact details, and has a working unsubscribe facility. You can opt out at any time. We do not sell or rent your information, and do not use pay-per-lead, false-scarcity tactics, automated-voice or unsolicited SMS marketing.
When we disclose your information
To licensed professionals in your transaction (broker, accountant/adviser, conveyancer/solicitor, inspectors, builders); to service providers who support our business, including Gameplans (an Australian-owned cloud-based strategy and feasibility platform used to build and maintain your property plan); to government, regulatory and law-enforcement bodies (including AUSTRAC) where required; and to our own professional advisers. We do not disclose for other purposes unless you would reasonably expect it, you consent, or we are required by law.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store, process or access information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. This can include a provider whose business is based in Australia but whose servers, sub-processors or personnel are located overseas. Before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs, and we will tell you which countries are involved if you ask.
How we hold and protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls, secure cloud storage and confidentiality practices. No method is completely secure. In an eligible data breach we comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, including notifying affected individuals and the OAIC where required.
How long we keep it
Only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law (including AML/CTF and tax record-keeping). When no longer required and not legally retained, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
Cookies and website analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to help it function, remember preferences, and collect anonymous usage statistics. This is generally not personally identifying. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though some features may not work as a result.
Use of artificial intelligence and analytics
We use software tools, including AI and data-analytics tools, to support our research, property analysis and feasibility modelling. These tools help inform our work. They do not make decisions about you: all advice, recommendations and decisions that may affect you are reviewed and made by a person (Mia Charles). Where we input personal information into such tools, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with this Policy. From 10 December 2026, new transparency requirements about automated decision-making take effect under the Privacy Act, and we will update this Policy as required.
Accessing and correcting your information
You may request access to the information we hold and ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period. In limited cases we may decline a request as permitted by law and explain why in writing.
